PROJECT NEWS UPDATES

AIRLIFTING OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES TO HAITI

You have watched on television the devastation brought by the 7.0 earthquake magnitude that hit the city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 12, 2010. To date, more than 150,000 have died from this calamity. Material and financial aids have been pouring to the country since then.

Relief WorkThe Southwest Medical Aid/The 3000 Club office/ warehouse in Tucson, which handles the donated medical supplies and equipment, was given the opportunity to respond on this occasion. Nearly 12,000 pounds of medical supplies and equipment, valued at more than $420,000 have been flown into Haiti through our collaboration with Operation Blessings International. Originally, the supplies was supposed to be taken to a hospital in Dominican Republic, where earthquake victims are taken for treatment, since air traffic is so restricted in Haiti. However, as Jan Izlar is saying, "miracles do happen" and the plane carrying the supplies was able to land directly in Port-au-Prince. Also included in the shipment were pallets of Gatorade and water. We thank our Director, Jan Izlar for coordinating the shipment and also our tireless volunteers which included Patty Figueroa who have taken several photos of this humanitarian action.
